FORE RIVER GALLERY ANNOUNCES MOVE TO NEW LOCATION
PORTLAND, ME – This September, Fore River Gallery will be relocating from its long time home on Market Street to a vibrant new space at 399 Fore Street, just a few blocks away. The move marks an exciting new chapter for the gallery, which has been a staple in the Portland arts scene since 2009.
“This is a big change for us, but we’re thrilled about the opportunities ahead,” says Liz Marks, a founding member of the gallery. “We’ve always been passionate about showcasing the incredible work of our talented artists, and this new space will let us do that in an even more dynamic way.”
The expanded location will allow Liz and her husband, Mike Marks, to create artwork on site while still offering the same high quality pieces for sale. The new space will feature a dedicated area for Mike to paint, as well as a relocated metalsmithing and jewelry studio where the duo can craft their unique pieces.
“We’re excited for our customers to see us creating artwork right in front of them. It’s a great way to connect our process with the pieces they’re purchasing,” adds Mike. “Plus, having the studio at the new gallery means we’ll free up a lot of space at home!”
In addition to the art studios and gallery, the new location will feature a unique component—Liz’s real estate services. As a broker with The Real Estate Store based in Scarborough since 2012, Liz can now meet clients in the gallery space, blending her expertise in real estate with the creative environment.
“This move really brings everything together for us—art, gallery, and real estate, all under one roof,” says Liz with a smile. “If we could fit my ceramic studio and our wood shop in there, we’d have everything in one place!”
While the couple is excited to continue showcasing the works of their longtime artist collaborators, they will also be supporting fellow gallery owner Tegan Curry, who will remain at the Market Street location to offer her jewelry, local artwork, as well as jewelry-making lessons. “We’ve worked with Tegan for over ten years, and we’re thrilled about her new venture,” Mike says.
In addition to the work of Liz and Mike, customers will continue to find the works of the talented artists: T.J. McDermott, Elizabeth Prior, Jason Morrissey, Amanda Pray, Maria Wolff and Aaron Staples at the new location.
Fore River Gallery will strive to open in mid-September. Stay tuned for updates and sneak peeks as they prepare for the next chapter!
